SHS Track Initiative
The SHS Student Leadership Council (SLC) is proud to announce the launch of the SHS Track Initiative.
This project aims to resurface the existing 300 m dirt running track and two 30 m long jump runways at the school, frame the jumping pits, and update aging track and field equipment. Currently, these facilities and equipment pose safety concerns and are not suitable for regular use.
The Student Leadership Council has already contributed seed funding to begin the project and is actively working toward its fundraising goal through events, sponsorship requests, and grant applications.
While the project will directly benefit students at Spiritwood High School, it will also serve the broader community. A newly resurfaced track will provide a safe and accessible space where young children — including those from local elementary schools — can be introduced to sport. It will also offer a safe place for families and seniors to walk, rather than using town streets, and create a level surface suitable for strollers and individuals with mobility challenges.
This student-led initiative was created with the goal of making a lasting contribution to both the school and the community. We are excited for the opportunity to bring this vision to life. For more information, or if you would like to make a donation, please contact the school.
